Jun 29, 2017

We are delighted to announce that HRH Prince Henry of Wales (Prince Harry) will be joining our Leeds Leads: Encouraging Happy Young Minds event on Thursday 6th July 2017.

Leeds Leads: Encouraging Happy Young Minds is a beacon event addressing the mental wellbeing of the city’s young people. The event will bring together mental health projects which we have funded through our latest initiative, The Leeds Fund, to celebrate the amazing work they are delivering across the city.

Prince Harry will meet some of the charities and beneficiaries of The Leeds Fund, which has now distributed over £550,000 to support local community groups, before addressing an audience of senior business leaders. The community groups attending include: Carers Leeds, Getaway Girls, Health for All, LS14 Trust, Leeds Mind, Leeds Women’s Aid, Space2, The Market Place, Touchstone and Women’s Counselling and Therapy Services.

The event will culminate in an interactive panel discussion that will highlight the issues affecting the mental wellbeing of young people in Leeds, and how the city and business community can work together to support future generations.

Guests will hear from panellists Tom Riordan – CEO of Leeds City Council, Stevie Ward – Leeds Rhinos Rugby Player and Founder of ‘Mantality’, Emma Holmes – CEO of the Market Place, and Kate Hainsworth – Deputy CEO of Leeds Community Foundation, as well as some young people who will be sharing their stories around mental health.

The event, which is strictly by invitation only, is supported by DLA Piper, EY, Standard Life Wealth and Westfield Health.

Tom Riordan, Chief Executive, Leeds City Council, said “I am delighted to be part of the Leeds Leads: Encouraging Young Minds event and am pleased to welcome Prince Harry to experience first-hand the pioneering work we are undertaking to secure the mental wellbeing of our city.”

The event is by invitation. Only confirmed guests will be given access to the venue.
