We are a local charity with a big vision – that Leeds will become a city of opportunity for all and that we will create positive change in the communities of Leeds that need it most. We do this by connecting people who want to make a real difference to our city and by delivering targeted grant-making to support the thousands of charities and community groups across Leeds who work tirelessly to improve lives. Our model is simple yet powerful – the more funds we secure, the more grants we make, and the greater our impact on reducing inequality and supporting those in need.
To date we have distributed over £33m in grants, giving out over £5.5m last year alone, but with 1 in 4 local children living in poverty and 16,000 older people in our communities saying they feel ‘intensely lonely’, there is much more to be done to make Leeds a city of opportunity for all. We are proud to say that our grants have already enabled hundreds of organisations to improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in many ways over the years, some life changing, some in terms of every day support.
Not only do we distribute funds, but we are also thought leaders and use our community knowledge and networks to identify and highlight need, and to enable the delivery of support to where it is needed most.
Having led the Foundation successfully for 13 years and built an organisation that is strongly placed to deliver even more positive impact for our communities than ever before, our Chief Executive is stepping down. We are therefore looking to appoint a talented, ambitious and credible leader, to take us forward into the next phase of our development. Our new Chief Executive will need to inspire and engage our team, partners, donors and community groups.
This role requires an individual with a strong track record of leadership, together with a passion for Leeds and its communities. The successful candidate will need proven experience of combining strong strategic and analytical skills, with innovation and a focus on results. If you can help us increase our funding and impact, and you meet the essential experience and knowledge criteria in the information pack, we would be keen for you to apply.
