Caring for the Elderly

The ONS statistics show that Leeds has a population of 798,800 people. 97,400 are between 60-75 and 55,200 are over 75. At the same time the number of people over the age of 85 has risen by 15% in the last 10 years and is set to rise significantly between now and 2020.

Old age is not in itself a form of disadvantage but, when accompanied by poverty, ill health and isolation, it gives rise to a distinct set of needs which need to be addressed.

Through our Birthday Impact Fund we are raising money to address significant issues which face our elderly residents.

Donations to the fund will address the following issues:

  • Loneliness and social isolation
  • Fuel Poverty
  • Debt
  • Mental and Physical Health
  • Carers
