Hundreds of charities and voluntary organisations across the city make a difference to thousands of people every day. We help these organisations support people in their communities. We do this in big ways, like funding new community centres, or in little ways, with smaller grants and advice.
In another record breaking year for Leeds Community Foundation, we are delighted to share our Impact Report 2016-17 with you.
Run by Leeds Mind, Inkwell Arts is a community café and media Centre. A recent grant will help the organisation to increase their enterprise activity to offer training / work opportunities to people with mental health difficulties and other support needs in the community.
BHI offer a range of services to the local BME community and, due to increased need, offer services to those living with dementia. Recent funding has supported their dementia awareness campaign which will work with local people to dispel the myths and taboos surrounding dementia.
The Market Place offers a 5 day week drop-in service to help young people in crisis, at risk or who need extra support. A large grant has enabled the project to recruit a full-time Drop-in Worker, allowing the service to offer an additional 25.5 counselling hours, which will result in an extra 14 counselling sessions each week. With the drop-in receiving nearly 3,200 individual visits each year, this extra support will make a big difference.
