What we don’t fund

  • Projects that have already taken place.
  • Projects where there is statutory responsibility to provide funding.
  • Deficit funding: direct replacement of statutory obligation or public funding or repayment of loans.
  • Projects primarily for the advancement of religion or politics.
  • Projects from regional or local offices of a national organisation (unless you can show that you are independently managed)
  • Small contributions towards larger appeals.
  • Profit-making organisations (except social enterprises).
  • Animals* or plants, unless the project directly benefits people.
  • Applications for the benefit of an individual (other than for the Ideas that Change Lives and Looked After Children programmes).
  • Research projects.
  • Overseas work and travel.
  • Groups that have had a previous grant which has not been managed satisfactorily
  • Projects outside of Leeds apart from grants made via the Bradford District Community Fund or Henry Smith Charity.

*The Mars Fund will support animal welfare projects.
