Over the past decade LCF has helped transform the lives of individuals and groups of people through the generosity of its donors. But the need continues to grow; last year we received nearly twice as many applications as we could actually fund.
To meet that demand, we have launched the LCF Birthday Impact fund, which will raise funds to support the people who need it most and tackle the City’s most significant issues.
The below issues only highlight a few of the challenges that face our City and the reasons why we need your help. Click on the headings to read our latest in-depth research papers. Our Breaking the cycle report on emerging needs will be released later this year.
- Children & young people – 23% of our under 16 year olds live in poverty with Leeds Central ward ranked 11th worst out of 650
- Older people – approximately 15,000 older people are intensely lonely, often seeing no-one from week to week
- Health & wellbeing – 150,000 people in Leeds live in an area ranked amongst the 10% most deprived in England
- Breaking the cycle – Domestic violence costs Leeds £76m per year
There are over 3,500 community groups in Leeds delivering vital frontline services. Please watch this short video highlighting some of the projects we have recently funded and see how a small amount of money can make a big difference.
