100 Club Supporters Celebrate Our Impact
This week, we welcomed 100 Club supporters new and longstanding to our third 100 Club event of the year. Hosted by 100 Club supporter, Northwood Investors, at their fantastic Broad Gate offices on the Headrow, the event was held in the building’s vast atrium and was a celebration of the impact the Foundation has made over the past year and a thank you to our supporters for making it possible.
The event saw the launch of Our Story 2017-2018, our annual review showcasing the impact we’ve made this year, our new website, and provided an opportunity for us to share a new project we have developed with street photography and social documentary blog, Humans of Leeds.
Over the past few months we have been capturing a series of first person stories from people across Leeds and Bradford whose lives our funding has helped. With many of those involved joining us for the evening, a selection of the photographs and stories were displayed around the venue and are included in Our Story 2017-2018 itself. Keep your eyes peeled for the Our Stories series featuring in our e-newsletter and coming up in the Yorkshire evening post, or you can meet Rabia, Bob and Stefan now.
While guests sipped on drinks courtesy of the fabulous Zest Mixology, our Chair, Rachel Hannan, shared some of our headline figures: over the past year we are proud to have awarded over £3 million in grants, distributed over 600 grants which in turn have benefited 100,000 people across Leeds and Bradford.
This impact could be seen in real terms in the people we have helped and the stories they have shared, as well as through our guest performer and award winning break dancer, Junior Frood. Having received an Ann Maguire Arts Education Fund through the Foundation, Junior was able to continue his training at Pineapple Studios and has since gone from strength to strength, is currently the UK’s Freestyle Street Dance Champion and was recently honoured by the Prime Minister for his achievements and charity work.
Thank you to all our supporters who joined us and we’re now looking forward to our upcoming Christmas 100 Club event!
