Community Foundation Partners with Global Engineering Firm

Sweco, a global engineering firm based in Leeds, have announced they will partner with Leeds Community Foundation through sponsorship of their 2020 events programme, continuing their commitment to supporting community development initiatives in Leeds.

The events will focus around Leeds Community Foundation’s supporters’ network – The 100 Club, giving existing and potential donors the opportunity to discover more about the Foundation’s work and impact across Leeds and Bradford. The quarterly events highlight the fantastic work of Leeds Community Foundation and the community organisations it funds.

Leeds Community Foundation is the region’s largest independent grant maker, supporting charity and voluntary groups across Leeds and the surrounding area by delivering grants and offering expert advice. To date, the Foundation has distributed more than £42m. This year alone, it has distributed £4.1m in grants across Leeds and Bradford and benefitted more than 59,000 individuals.

Sweco’s support of Leeds Community Foundation is part of their ongoing commitment to create opportunities and support good causes in their local area, which was recognised last year, as a finalist in the UK Social Mobility Awards.

Max Joy, Business Area President at Sweco UK said: “We’re headquartered in Leeds, which makes us particularly proud to support the work that Leeds Community Foundation does with good causes across the region, and proud of the opportunities that they, and their partners, are creating for those most in need across the city.

Sweco’s focus upon social value in Leeds is an in integral part of our strategy and not just bolted on as an after-thought.  We are determined to contribute to Leeds Community Foundation to change lives and make a difference to our city”.

Kate Hainsworth, CEO at Leeds Community Foundation said: “Sweco has been an invaluable support to the Foundation over the past couple of years. The company ethos fits perfectly with our vision of creating opportunities for all and their dedication to supporting local communities shines through in every aspect of their work. Through their ongoing support of our supporters club to partnering on key activities such as our community engagement event and celebration event, they have not only financially supported our work but have helped to raise the profile of the Foundation across Leeds to enable us to reach new partners and donors.”
