“I’ve been coming to Purple Patch for a few years now. When we arrive in the morning we start with a warm-up. We play songs and we move around. Then we do activities like art and dance. This year’s theme is ‘Round the World’. Before we’ve had ’Time’ and ’Heroes’ as themes.
We will be choosing a new theme at Beamsley (our residential weekend). Everyone gets a say in what it will be. I look forward to going away; it’s always exciting. We do lots of activities and have lots of fun. My favourite is the late nights and the disco!”
Purple Patch Arts works with over 150 people with learning difficulties each week to improve their life chances by creating inclusive learning environments in which people can thrive. Their Leeds Fund Small Grant allowed them to run 4 workshops utilising art, drama and music to promote good mental wellbeing and provide participants with an understanding of the symptoms and triggers surrounding mental health issues.
